Spied: Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Caught In The Wild!

Chevrolet engineers have completed development on the lighter, stiffer 2016 Camaro
and it appears the are now busy developing the next Camaro ZL1. It marks the very first time we’ve seen the General testing the new model.

Product developers have slathered the vehicle in loads of camouflage to distract and distort its appearance but we can still glean a fair bit from the photo above.

Up front sits a new, more aggressive front splitter while larger air inlets on each side of the grill allow for better cooling. Another photo also shows a large hood extractor/scoop, which means there’s likely a new, more powerful engine under the hood. We can also spot larger fender flares– likely hiding wider tires– while a new, larger rear wing sits out back.

General Motors has remained very tight lipped about the new ZL1 and has not yet provided us with any concrete details. However, it seems likely Chevrolet could fit the maniacal LT4 V8 engine, which produces an astounding 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque under the hood of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06
.

Certain publications have listed the vehicle in the spyshots above as the 2017 Camaro ZL1, indicating a release date sometime in late 2016 or early 2017. That’s a long time to wait, but we’re willing to be patient to see just what Chevrolet has in store.

What do you think of the so-called 2017 Camaro ZL1? Dish us your opinion in the comments below.
