GM Canada Sales Skyrocket 12 Percent In August

General Motors of Canada enjoyed a banner month in August 2015, an increase of 12 percent over the same time last year.

Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC dealers around the country collectively delivered 24,653 vehicles in August, a huge lift over the 22,111 they moved one year prior.

“Customer demand for our Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac cars and trucks continues to grow in the Canadian marketplace with GMC and Cadillac experiencing the best August sales in their history,” said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada.

Here are just some of the highlights that helped propel the sales lift last month:

– Chevrolet sales were up 12 percent, largely driven by Malibu
(+34%), Equinox
(+23%), Traverse (+33%), Suburban
(+39%), Corvette
(+107%), and Chevrolet’s truck portfolio which is up 25 percent year-to-date.

– Cadillac sales were up 52 percent, boosted by sales of ATS
(+74%), XTS (+84%), SRX
(+63%) and Escalade
(+54%)

– GMC sales also jumped 16 percent last month, thanks to strong performances by Acadia (+24%) and the company’s portfolio of pickups (Canyon
& Sierra
), up 28 percent last month

Buick LaCrosse
was up 42 percent

Part of the reason for GM Canada’s strong showing lies in the company’s integration of 4G LTE in-car wifi technology
, which can now be found in over 30 Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC vehicles.

It’s also worth noting that data has not been adjusted for the variance in selling days; August 2014 enjoyed 26 selling days, whereas August 2015 had just 25.
