General Motors Canada has announced it will invest $13-million in its St. Catherines Powertrain facility to enable the plant to build more versions of the 3.6L V6 engine currently built at the plant. Future production volume will be determined by demand and ongoing dialogue with Unifor, according to the company. St. Catherines Powertrain

“This new investment in our St. Catherines Powertrain facility will provide us with more options and capability for the future. It’s another example of how GM is living up to its commitments and building solid capability for the future in Canada,” said Stephen Carlise, President and Manager of GM Canada.

The GM St. Catherines plant is actually one of the largest engine and transmission plants in North-America, producing a wide range of V8 and V6 engines for use in a wide variety of vehicle, like the Chevrolet Silverado
fitted with the 5.3L V8 engine, and the Camaro
with the V6 engine.
