General Motors Readies Next-Gen Chevrolet Cruze

Since it debuted back in 2008, the Chevrolet Cruze
has been a smashing success. It’s Chevrolet’s best-selling vehicle around the world, and sales recently surpassed the 3.5-million mark, a milestone that arrives just as Chevrolet is preparing to launch the new, next-generation Cruze in less than a month, on June 24.

“When we introduced the Cruze it replaced 15 other compact vehicles around the globe,” said Alan Batey, president, General Motors North America and global Chevrolet brand chief. “By consolidating design, engineering and marketing efforts, we were able to produce an award-winning sedan that won over customers around the world.”

The Cruze is sold in 155 countries around the world and its top markets include China, the United States, Brazil and Canada.

Canadians have continued to warm to the Cruze and sales have steadily grown over the past three years. Plus, 30 percent of all Canadian buyers are new to the brand. As a matter of fact, of those who trade in a Cruze, almost 70 percent stay with GM while another 50 percent traded in their vehicle for another Cruze.

So, what can we expect from the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze?

The new Cruze plans to elevate the success of the current model by offering more standard features that are important to customers. It will be larger yet lighter than the outgoing model, with new technologies, new powertrains and a bunch of additional safety features planned.

The 2016 Cruze will join the new Malibu
, Volt
, Spark
, Camaro
, which were all unveiled this year. The 2016 Cruze will also be one of the first Chevrolets to offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

We expect the next-generation Cruze to hit our showroom early next year. Stay tuned for lots more on the incoming Cruze. In the meantime, check out our first teaser of the new Cruze above.
