A few months ago GM gave us a first look at the incoming, refreshed 2016 Chevrolet Silverado
and its redesigned front-end, new Chevrolet Mylink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability and new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission for trucks equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine. But that’s all we were told.

Just the other day Chevrolet officially revealed the 2016 Silverado at the Texas State Fair and it’s spilled info more info on the award winning
truck.

But let’s go back to it’s newly redesigned front-end for a second. The new truck now provides a unique look for each model, letting customers choose exactly the appearance they like best. For example, Silverado WT features a chrome accents in the grill, black grill inserts and compact HID headlamps, while LT and LTZ models receive chrome bumper accents.

No matter which model you choose every single Silverado now features LED daytime running lamps and park/turn signals. LED fog lamps are also available on LT/LTZ models. Wireless phone charging is also available on LT and LTZ models and comes standard on High Country.

The new Silverado 1500 also offers features like Forward Collision Alert, IntelliBeam high-beam assist and Lane Departure Warning.

Customers can pick from three EcoTec 3 and each one features direct injection, continuously variable valve timing, and cylinder deactivation, which shuts off four-cylinders to save fuel in light-load conditions.

The Silverado’s standard 4.3L V-6 (285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque) offers the most torque in the segment, while the 5.3L V8 engine (355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque) also takes the cake as the most fuel efficient V8 in its class. Meanwhile, the 6.2L V8 engine (420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque) and you’ll get most power and torque of any light-duty pickup.

Chevrolet’s truck formula has been very well received by Canadians, with pickup sales up 33 percent this year, and the new Silverado serves only to add to that winning combination.

We expect the new truck to arrive sometime next year.
